Booking a Stay

At St Columba’s we are always delighted and fascinated to see who turns up. When you arrive you will immediately notice we are not a typical Christian retreat centre. We are a working farmstead and spiritual community. We are also at the very beginning of Starting Again, so we will be a little rustic and rough around the edges. But this we believe all adds to the charm and liminal reality of encountering God in Community and Creation.

We do not charge a fee for our hospitality, as we believe in a Gift Economy, and do not wish for money to become an obstacle for people coming and encountering God. However there are basic costs involved in hosting people like electricity, water, bed linen, cleaning and maintaining rooms, so we therefore ask that each individual or group consider making a Gift or Donation or even better, take out a small Standing Order/Regular Giving to the Society. As our accommodation is quite rudimentary we suggest a donation of £20 per night for either Camping or the Summer Bunk House or a £5 standing order. We won’t ask you for money – it is at your discretion.

Summer Bunk House – small double and single bed, fresh bed linen, electricity, fridge, access to toilet and shower and small desk. Please note there is no wifi as we live in a very remote area, so you will need to use your 4G.

Camping – we are able to offer camping for groups of 6 people. Electricity can be run off an extension from the main house and there is the use of toilet and shower room. Please note there is no wifi, so you will need to use your 4G.

Shepherds Hut – Coming Soon. A 14″x7′” classic design that will feature 12v. solar electric, small double bed, wood burning stove and small study desk.

The Prototype St Columba’s Shepherds Hut is designed, engineered and built by members of the community
