The Little Litany of St Columba

The Little Litany of St. Columba.

This litany was written by David Pratt, one of our founding members. David is an artist, builder and Coptic Orthodox Christian. We are all members of a great cloud of witnesses and ask for the accompaniment of our patron in our daily life.

It was written for our community and the wider body of Christ to celebrate our first morning of prayer on the St Columba’s Farmstead 22 January 2019.

St Columba evangelist, abbot, priest, and our Patron:
pray for us in our tribulations
In our works this day:
St Columba pray for us
In our fallenness and that we may get up again:
St Columba pray for us
In our meeting with others, whether in person or through technology, that we may see Christ in them:
St Columba pray for us
In our aspirations and that they may be as Christ’s:
St Columba pray for us
In our weakness this day whether in thought or deed:
St Columba pray for us
In our worship of the One God in three persons, Holy Trinity:
St Columba Pray for us
In our devotion to God The Father consubstantial with the Son:
St Columba pray for us
In our meditation on Christ of one essence with the Father:
St Columba pray for us
In our acquiring of the Holy Spirit, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and Glorified:
St Columba pray for us
In our honouring of The Mother of God, Mary the Virgin, our Mother:
St Columba Pray for us
For all of our own needs, both in body and soul:
St Columba pray for us
For the needs of our loved ones:
St Columba pray alongside us
For the needs of the sick, the troubled of mind, the grieving , the cold, the hungry, the prisoner, the stranger and the refugee:
St Columba pray alongside us
For all those who have asked us for our prayers:
St Columba pray alongside us
In this land, that we may live unselfishly, remembering that we are but passing through:
St Columba pray for us
In our seeking after wisdom, truth and holiness and that we may be ever mindful that our faith is in things unseen:
St Columba pray for us
In our turning from a desire to be noticed:
St Columba pray for us
In our reluctance to let God overshadow us for fear of loss:
St Columba pray for us
In our turning from evil:
St Columba pray for us
In our care for all of God’s creatures:
St Columba pray for us
That we may follow in Christ’s footsteps as servants of each other:
St Columba pray for us
That we may live this day in God’s Holy Peace and carry that Peace with us out into the world:
St Columba pray for us
Amen
